Chasing away the flies & dust on my blog to bring you another k-pop update ❁◕ ‿ ◕❁ /throws confetti/
This time i'll be talking about Lee Hi's Rose!
Non-biasly speaking, i fell in love with this song after 20 seconds of listening to it.
It's a total 180 degree change from 'It's Over'.
While It's Over shows the cutesy bubbly Lee Hi, Rose portrays the more mature side of Lee Hi that makes
you want to take her seriously after It's Over.
The meaning of the song is supposed to say that love has both beauty and pain.
I find that this song really suits her voice. Although it's not those high-notes kind of song similar to Adele's kind of song, it's still pleasurable to listen to and just makes you want to lie down and feel calm while Lee Hi's voice soothes your mind.
Video wise, i think it is beautifully directed and produced (whatever the term is)
Everything is elegant & alluring and very... ~artsy~
I like the use of the color white, which makes everything else stands out, especially the lighting filters.
Lee Hi is mostly found in stillness throughout the entire music video, making it visually engaging. It does not force the symbols down your throat, like some ~ symbolic ~ music video would do.
In other words, the video takes the message of the song and gives it a visual meaning. It's something not expected from a 16 year old pop star but then again we're talking about YGEnt here. Everyone expects Lee Hi to be that cute little neighbor from next door that brings cookies & cupcakes over but then Boom! She decides to crush roses with thrown-gloved hands and send men covered with white powder chasing after you, well, because she freaking can.
Thus, this song would be a definite "strongly recommend" for all you with broken hearts to tell you that love has both its beauty and pain.
